Super Falcons Kick-off to A Winning start in Turkey Women's Invitational Cup

New coach Randy Waldrum got off to a winning start with the Super Falcons when they pipped CSKA Moscow 1-0 in a Turkish Women’s Cup clash today.

The African champions winning goal came in the 18th minute, when China-based striker Chiwendu Ihezuo tapped home a low cross by Francisca Ordega.

The Falcons dominated the game and created several chances but captain Asisat Oshoala, Ordega and the dazzling Payne failed to put them away.

Payne, 25, played the entire 90 minutes. The American-born star, who scored seven goals in her first season in Spain, has now netted twice in 20 appearances for mid-table Sevilla Fameni.

Nigeria will next take on Uzbekistan in continuation of the invitational tournament on Saturday.

Uzbekistan lead the group after they thrashed Equatorial Guinea 5-0 in the opening group game Wednesday.
