David Moyes Finally Speaks On Paul Onuachu and January Signing at West Ham

The rumour of West Ham interest on Paul Onuachu and the possible signing of the Nigerian giant striker during the January transfer window has been on  the air for sometime now. But on Wednesday, the West Ham manager, David Moyes speak on the matter.

David Moyes claims that West Ham aren’t that interested in signing Paul Onuachu ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference [West Ham website] before the Irons face Genk, the Scotsman admitted that the giant Nigerian isn’t a target though he does like him as a player.

Moyes praises player of the month...

Moyes also claimed that he has “watched” Onuachu but seemed to dismiss any possibility of the Hammers signing him.

He said: “I don’t want to disappoint you in any way, but he wasn’t someone we really had in any consideration. Quite often, at West Ham, we are linked with so many players, that's media thing.

“I appreciate the player because I’ve watched him recently watching the games, but he wasn’t one of our targets planned for the summertime.”

West Ham may not be signing Onuachu.

The 27-year-old scored a staggering 35 goals last season for the Belgian side and has already bagged 11 in 15 matches this season, but it doesn’t appear as if the Irons will be signing him any time soon.

This is a shame because we believe that he would be an excellent signing for the Hammers, and tomorrow night should have been the perfect opportunity to watch him up close [West Ham Zone].

However, it appears as if Moyes has other targets in mind though if he scored a couple of goals tomorrow, we wonder if that would change his mind?

Certainly, you would think Onuachu could cope with the physicality of the league, and his goalscoring record is ridiculous.

So, maybe another Premier League club will swoop and pick him up because surely that goal record is too good to ignore.

Now that Moyes has pretty much dismissed the Irons’ interest in Onuachu, we will be intrigued to see who he looks at in January instead.
