Scorecard: How Convincing Is Gernot Rohr's Super Eagles - After Five Years of Team Building

Anything can happen with Gernot Rohr's Super Eagles, that's just the bitter pills we must learn to swallow. After five or more years as head coach, there's seems to be no real progression in building a formidable team for Nigeria.

Former Nigerian midfielder, Sunday Oliseh has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to sack the German due to his inability to move Nigeria’s football forward.

We have watched in utter disillusionment as Super Eagles threw away a 4 - 0 lead against a meadow Sierra Leone side here in AFCON qualifiers. Now a loss to another meadow team Central African Republic in a World Cup qualifier here in Lagos has greatly dented the country's football reputation.

Does Gernot Rohr still deserve the pamper and liberty he is currently enjoying as Nigeria national team head coach?

Just imagine if Emmanuel Amunike was the one incharge, or any other Nigerian coach for that matter. Heads would have rolled!!

Despite, a lot of ex-international raising eyebrows as to what clandestine authority are behind Rohr's immunity?  It is clear to everyone that the German Journeyman is not the one that would take Nigeria to the proverbial promise land.

Should we continue to applaud Rohr for scaling AFCON qualifications, and maybe, he will also qualify Nigeria for the World cup again. But his team hasn't shown in anyway that they can win any major tournament, even with numerous top flight players now in the squad. Can this team win AFCON, not to talk of  making any considerable progress at FIFA World Cup?

The talk that Super Eagles is still a young team is now playing to Mediocracy . The question really is, will the team ever mature with Gernot Rohr as Head Coach?
