An English football fan got the surprise of a lifetime when he spotted Lionel Messi on the Argentina team bus.

Messi inspired Argentina to a 3-0 win over Italy in the Finalissima at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night. The clash between the champions of Europe and South America was played for the first time since 1993 and ended in a decisive victory for Argentina.

The goals came from Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria and Paulo Dybala, but Messi was still the star of the show. Messi set up Martinez’s tap-in and also assisted Dybala in injury-time after some impressive saves from Gianluigi Donnarumma kept the score down.

The match was a sell-out at Wembley, with thousands snapping up tickets to watch Messi live. They were treated to a fantastic performance, but one fan was even more excited to catch a glimpse of his hero.

A video posted on Twitter has gone viral which shows a supporter in shock and disbelief after spotting Messi sat on the Argentina coach. The star of the short clip is heard screaming “Look who it is! The GOAT! The GOAT! The GOATTTT! The GOAT, man! Oh my god!”

When you’re out in the car you normally expect to see the mundane. You certainly don’t expect to see the Paris Saint-Germain playmaker sat on a coach like a mere mortal.

Messi now has another trophy to add to his bulging personal collection and he was understandably delighted after the match. "It was a beautiful final, full of Argentines," Messi said.
