Funmi Adefuye Set to Sign Her First Professional Contract with Heartland Queens

Captain of Papa Soccer Queens Football Club Of Epe, Oluwafunmilayo Adefuye has expressed a desire to start her professional career with Heartland Queens Football Club of Owerri.

Adefuye while chatting with our correspondence said Heartland Queens officials have come to meet his coach but have yet to finalize her move to Heartland Queens.

“One of the premier clubs that showed interest in me is Heartland Queens. The Owerri club officials came to see my coach recently but I think they have not agreed on terms. If you asked me do I like to play for the club, I will say yes because I will like to start my professional career with Owerri club after many years in playing nationwide league,” she said.

Asked what would make her different from other players if she was signed for Heartland Queens, the lanky central defender boasted that she is a freekick specialist saying that she hardly allows strikers to beat her on one in one in-goal area.

“My strength is free to kick. I am good at a free kicks and my coach knows about that. Secondly, I am always tough in marking. I don’t tolerate nonsense from strikers. I am a defender that would make life miserable to any striker so Heartland Queens should be happy if they get a player like me in their squad,” she boasts.

In his own comment, Papa Queens Coach, Adeboye Paul Soneye described Adefuye as a reliable and dependable player whose service will surely miss if she gets offered to Heartland Queens.

“Adefuye is a senior player full of experience. Of course, Heartland Queens is interested in her but we still. need to agree on terms before I can release her to the club. She is a reliable and tough player who is ready to give her best for any club she is playing for. Truly we are going to miss her for her discipline, toughness, and commitment to the club,” he concluded.
