Rivers United coach Evans Ogenyi says his side showed strong fight in the win against Ghana’s Dreams FC.
Rivers United finished in second position in CAF Confederation Cup Group C and earned qualification to the quarter-finals
Ogenyi praised his players for fighting back to win the game.
The most important thing is the qualification. We told our players not to be anxious. We had like three chances in the first half which we wasted,” Ogenyi told reporters after the game.
“You know when you don’t take your chances you might be punished by your opponent. They scored us in the 40th minute of the first half.
“You will agree with me that a team that come from behind to win, is a team that showed character.
“We told the players this is not just a Rivers United project, it is a Nigeria project and we know what is at stake. Woe are happy to qualify.
