Abuja Fans Received A Clarion Call As Super Falcons Players Prepare for the Big Game - Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifier this Friday

Super Falcons of Nigeria players who trained in Abuja today in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics women’s football event qualifying tie first leg encounter against Banyana Banyana of South Africa.


The first leg is billed for Friday at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja and the Nigeria Football Federation has been appealing to fans in the federal capital and environs to show up in large numbers to cheer the Super Falcons on.


“The NFF is calling on Nigerians from all over the Federal Capital Territory and the neighbouring states, and indeed from all over Nigeria, to come out in their tens of thousands to cheer the Super Falcons to victory in the match against South Africa,” NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said.


“This is a big match by all standards. We are specially appealing to our people to come en masse and support the Super Falcons.


“It is important for us to get a big win here in order to be in good stead before flying to South Africa. A handsome win here will bolster our ladies with the confidence and mentality to overcome in Pretoria.”


The Super Falcons have not participated in the Olympics since 2008, when they lost all three matches in the group phase in China.


As at lunchtime today, there were 21 players in the Super Falcons camp, including United States of America-based trio of Deborah Abiodun, Ifeoma Onumonu and Esther Okoronkwo as well as Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Gift Monday and Toni Payne.
