Ahmed Musa Breaks the Bank: Become Nigeria's Most Expensive Footballer Ever... With Leicester Transfer Deal
Premier League champions Leicester
City signing will make Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa Nigeria’s most expensive
footballer following
…a $21twenty-one million Dollars (€18.8
eighteen million, eight hundred thousand euros; an equivalent of N6 six billion
Naira) deal with Russian champions CSKA Moscow for him.
According to reports, the
23-year-old Musa, who scored a brace for Nigeria in a 3-2 defeat against Argentina
at Brazil 2014, will be signing a five-year deal.
“He’ll be leaving Tuesday,” CSKA
coach Leonid Slutsky told Russian media of the player, who joined CSKA from
VVV-Venlo in 2012 and has scored 53 goals in 161 games.
“And if you look at the way things
are done over there you’ll see he is a player just made for English football,”
Slutsky said.
Hitherto, former Eagles skipper Jay
Jay Okocha held record of Nigeria’s most expensive footballer when French side, PSG splashed $17 seventeen million
dollars to bring him to Paris after his stunning performance at the 1998 World
Cup;
…but now Musa sets a new record of $21 twenty-one million Dollars
Leicester’s first signing since
winning the English Premier League was Sporting Gijon defender Luis Hernandez
on a free transfer.
Leicester had earlier announced they
had signed former France Under-21 midfielder Nampalys Mendy from Nice on a
four-year deal, as they bolster their squad for a tilt at the Champions League.
