The Group B, 2018 World Cup qualifier game between Nigeria and Algeria
will be played at the ultra modern 30, 000 capacity Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo…
But then, the marketing research conducted by GreenHunters Sports
International reveals that over 50, 000 spectators may be attending the big match.
That may mean different things for “The Land of Promise” - a sudden
increase in human and vehicular traffic as well as pressure on public
facilities in Uyo.
This isn’t the first time Super Eagles is playing here, but with the
growth in popularity after beating Zambia at home, more fans across the country
may be trooping into the state that weekend.
The state may experience a repeat of the marmot crowd that besieged the
Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna in the game between Nigeria and Egypt 2017 AFCON
qualifier.
Governor Udom Emmanuel said the state is full ready and excited to host a
big match of such magnitude. The law enforcement Agencies: Police, FRSC, Civil Defense corps... will be deployed
appropriately.
Of course, it means more commercial activities, and entities that offer
hospitality: transportation, accommodation, restaurant, road side
confectioneries should be ready for brisk business.
Algeria desert Warriors are arguably the best team in Africa and possess
some of the best legs in Africa today. Stars like: Riyad Mahrez, Yaccine Brahimi, Rachid Ghazzai, Salimi Vaidi…, will be paraded in the Nest of
champions.
It is one match the Super Eagles are determining to win, which will give
them a real advantage if they do. Cameroon got a draw in Algiers in the first
leg against Algeria in September and if Nigeria can win this one it will retain
the top spot.
