Rivers Angels Win Aiteo Women Federations Cup for A Record 8th Times
Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt lifted the women’s FA Cup title for a record eighth time.
The Port Harcourt-based club beat Ibom Angels Football Club of Uyo in the final match of the 2018 edition of the tournament played at Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Tuesday.
A 48th minutes strike from Juliet Sunday was all the Port Harcourt side needed to successfully defend their title and continue with their dominance of the country’s women football.
The game started with both teams determined to take the day, a 24 minutes strike from Ibom Angels striker unluckily hit the bar while both side continued pressing on.
Thousands of sport enthusiasts in Bayelsa State turned out to watch the encounter.
Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State was also on hand to present the coveted title to the Port Harcourt-based side, alongside other dignitaries, including President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick.
