USA vs Nigeria: Flamingos Move to Break the Quarter Final Jinx at U17 Women's World Cup in India - This Friday

After scoring 7 goals and conceding 3 in Group B play to become runners up, the Nigerian. Under-17 Women’s National Team, Flamingos has earned a quarterfinal match against Group A toppers U.S. Women's Youth National team on Friday, Oct. 21, at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai (12:00 GMT+, WAT).

The Nigerian ladies lost their first game against Germany due to lack of concentration, after they had gone ahead 1 - 0 but couldn't hold the lead, allowing Germany to score two successive goals running to the end of the game. It was like drawing the lions tail, and the Flamingos went on rampage against New Zealand 0 - 4; as well as beat Chile 2 - 1 to become runners up in the group.

This is the third time Nigeria will be getting to the quarter finals of this tournament, but have not gone pass this stage. And the smashing quick attacker, Opeyemi Ajakaye, who has won player of the match award in two out of the three games, will be leading Flamingos to break the quarter final jinks. And the Nigerian girls are determined to set the record straight.

It look like an up hill task, playing against the free scoring U.S.WYNT with 13 goals to their credit. The most scored by any team in the tournament during group play and after walloping India 8 - 0 and routing Morocco 4 - 0. You may say, who's next?

Nothing will be taken for granted as USA travels to its third, and by far largest city in India for the quarterfinal match, Navi Mumbai. The match against Nigeria will be  played at the DY Patil Stadium, which seats 37,700 for this tournament. Indeed, this a match to watch!
