While Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain compete for the signing of Palmeiras prodigy Endrick, another European giant has seemingly entered the chase for the teenage striker.
According to ESPN Brasil, Manchester City are also interested in Endrick and are set to send representatives to watch the 16-year-old in action against Fortaleza later tonight.
The 16-year-old first burst onto the scenes during the Copinha tournament earlier this year, where he put himself on the radars of a host of top European clubs, including Barcelona. Endrick even visited the Catalan club earlier this year, along with several other teams.
Barça are believed to have met with Endrick’s entourage recently to confirm their interest in signing him. However, recent reports have suggested that Barça have fallen behind the likes of Real Madrid and PSG in the race to sign the teenage whizkid due to their financial woes.
And with Manchester City’s entry into the race, things could get even more complicated for the Blaugrana.
Endrick penned his first professional contract with Palmeiras this past July after turning 16 years old. He signed a three-year deal until the summer of 2025 with a €60 million release clause embedded in it.
However, a lower offer of around €35-40 million could be enough for Palmeiras to part ways with their teenage wonderkid.
Even as clubs scramble for his signing, it must be remembered that Endrick will only be able to leave Brazil and arrive in Europe after two years, once he turns 18.
While that might be the case, it should not come as a surprise that teams are trying to close his signing at the earliest possible to avoid a bidding war.
But given Barcelona’s iffy financial situation and need to strengthen several other positions as priority, whether they can compete with the likes of Man City, PSG and Real Madrid in the race for Endrick’s signing remains to be seen.
All glory goes to PSG!!!!!
